Alex has been building business and cultural relationships in Japan for nearly a decade – first as a newspaper reporter covering the Japanese ownership of The Pebble Beach Company, then as a teacher of English and consultant in tourism development at Nanao Junior College. He visited Japan twice as a journalist, including work as a Jefferson Fellow at the East-West Center in Honolulu. Now he is a liaison between the sister cities of Nanao, on the Noto Peninsula, and Monterey.
